& La Besurta
For
information on transport between destinations beyond the Pyrenees and
Barbastro, see Getting There & Away in the introduction to the Aragonese
Pyrenees section.
Altoaragonesa buses
leave Barbastro for Benasque at 11 am and (except Sunday) 5.30 pm. Buses
to Barbastro depart from Benasque at 6.45 am (except Sunday) and 3 pm.
From Benasque up to
La Besurta, buses leave at 7.30 am and 1 pm. Cars are allowed to travel
beyond Hospital de Benasque and as far as La Besurta only between 8
pm and 8 am.
In the other direction,
a shuttle bus (200 ptas one way, 275 ptas return) travels the 5.5km
from La Besurta to the Hospital de Benasque. In principle the service
runs every 30 minutes in each direction, though the driver tends to
adjust the schedule to suit his personal life. Buses departing La Besurta
at 12.30, 5.30 and 7.30 pm (the last of the day) continue on to Benasque.
At other times you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a lift down
to town from the car park beside the lower bus terminal near the Hospital
de Benasque.
Bielsa
It is possible
to join or leave the Pyrenean Traverse from Bielsa at the end of Day
16. However, public transport is limited. From Barbastro, Autocares
Cortes (Tel: 974 31 15 52) runs a service to Aínsa, from where
you can catch an onward connection three times a week to Bielsa. The
service leaves Barbastro at 7.45 pm and Aínsa at 8.45 pm on Monday,
Wednesday and Friday. In the other direction, it sets out from Bielsa
at 6 am on these same days.
Schedules change and
vary seasonally. We strongly recommend that you ring Altoaragonesa (Tel:
974 31 12 93) or the local tourist office (Tel: 974 30 83 50) for the
latest information.
Valle
de Pineta
For information
on getting to and from Valle de Pineta at the end of the walk, see Getting

Monte Perdido walk later in this section.
